HTP Episode 080 – Jarrod Alberich

WP

Jarrod Alberich is one of the most well-rounded geek talents you’ll find.  A comic artist, he dubs himself the Yard Sale Artist, creating amazing works on vintage media.  He’s also one of the talents behind On Her Majesty’s Secret Podcast and Longbox Crusade.  In this episode of Hungry Trilobyte, Jarrod and I discuss the James Bond “Extended Universe”, or lack thereof, as the case might be.  We also have a lot of notes to compare when it comes to NES games and G.I. Joe!

Note: You can find me on Jarrod’s 007 podcast here discussing the NES game James Bond Jr.

You can follow Jarrod on Twitter and Facebook.  Don’t forget to check out his shop!

HTP Episode 079 – Dr. Mohamed Noor

In addition to being the Dean of Natural Sciences at Duke University, Dr. Mohamed Noor is also a giant Star Trek fan, and has the opportunity to act as a science advisor on Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery.  Not only was he on the team that developed the scientific rationale behind “The Burn”, he and Dr. Erin Macdonald (episodes #13 and #51)  wrote a detailed article titled The Science Behind Discovery’s Burn that fleshes out the details for the science-minded viewers.

This episode of Hungry Trilobyte features he and I discussing how it’s now acceptable to use fandom in academia, whereas that was not always the case.  We spend a lot more time just hashing out scientific weirdness (and accidental accuracies) within our favorite Star Trek episodes.

You can follow him on Twitter and on his YouTube Channel, BioTrekkie Explains!

Dr. Erin MacDonald returns from her earlier appearance in Episode 13. This time around, we discuss her audiobook “The Science of Sci-Fi“, and pick apart how String Theory applies to DC comics, and how Star Trek tackled the artificial gravity problem. Then we REALLY have some fun and try to apply science to the literal unknown… and it’s a good thing we’re both fans of The X-Files!
