HTP Episode 116 – Frank Conniff

Tvsfrankwx4

Frank Conniff (known to MST3K fans as “TV’s Frank”) is now the star of a riffing show called The Mads Are Back.   The two of us spend a lot of time talking about discovering movies, appreciating offbeat cinema, and how the movie culture has grown and changed over the years, particularly in our lifetimes.   From silent films, to the studio system era, to Disney’s takeover of Marvel, there’s a lot to cover in this chat!

You can follow Frank on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  Check out his official website and his books.

HTP Episode 115 – Jeffrey Weissman

Jeffrey Weissman is a veteran actor, known on screen for his roles in Twilight Zone: The Movie and Back to the Future, Part II. He comes to Hungry Trilobyte to discuss his journey through stage and screen, and I really enjoy hearing his insights on playing iconic figures such as Mark Twain and Larry Fine. Toward the end of the show, Jeffrey treats me to a choice sampling of his rare behind-the-scenes photos to go along with his stories.

HTP Episode 114 – Val Narr

Val Narr is an artist who also has a concern for mental health and giving people the guidance they need to better their lives. Her Twitter series, Life Advice with Counselor Troi, illustrates principles of therapy through examples from Deanna Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation. In this episode of Hungry Trilobyte, Val and I discuss why this works so well, and how much wisdom can be found in the words of both Troi and Marina Sirtis.

Be sure to follow Val on Twitter!  You can also support her work on Depop and Etsy!

HTP Episode 113 – Jarrod Alberich Returns!

Jarrod Alberich comes back to Hungry Trilobyte (after discussing James Bond in another episode). Today he adds his perspective to our discussion of the connection between fandom and mental health. Jarrod has taught leadership courses in which the concept of Emotional Intelligence is a main topic. He and I take that and apply it to internet culture as a whole.

If you’re interested in more of Jarrod’s Leadership Skills, try his podcast on the topic, Leadership Tips with Jarrod.
