John Eiman had the amazing experience of being a child actor in the “Golden Age” of TV— and loving every minute of it. In this episode of Hungry Trilobyte, Johnny and I talk about how the industry has changed, what was expected of a child actor at the time, and what it was like to meet Rod Serling and Walt Disney.

HTP Episode 097 – Stephan Reese

Screen Shot 2021-07-22 at 10.27.41 AM

Stephan Reese is the Executive Director of The Interactive Art Collection, a showcase of video game related visual works.  Most notable in that collection is “The Art of Nintendo Power”,  which are examples of the mixed media that created the covers and spreads for Nintendo’s showcase magazine.  Nintendo Power ran from 1988 to 2012, and Stephan indulges me greatly as I ask all sorts of questions (and just geek out) over how the magazines served to bring Nintendo fans game news when there were no better conduits.

HTP Episode 096 – Steven Jay Rubin Returns!

Steven Jay Rubin (who discussed James Bond in Episode 74) visits again to indulge me in my deep-dive into The Twilight Zone and its creator, Rod Serling.  The two of us spend a lot of time discussing how the writing of the series was heavily motivated my Rod’s sense of activism and social reform.  We also note that The Twilight Zone was one of the first examples of mainstream science fiction being made for adults.  Steve is able to draw heavily on his book, The Twilight Zone Encyclopedia, as a resource.

Steve’s Amazon Author page is definitely worth following. You can also find him on LinkedIn,  and his somewhat lesser-used Twitter.

Pat Jankiewicz (Episode 34) returns to discuss how the comic industry has rebounded (and how it hasn’t) after the shake-ups from 2020. He and I have a great chat about comic book movies, discount bins, comic conventions, and Pat corrects me on a few of my misconceptions (I love it when people do that!)

You can follow him on Twitter. Be sure to look up Pat’s writing in Infinity, Star Wars Insider, and Star Trek Magazine.
